Hernandez
Harvey Hernandez is Chairman & CEO of Miami-based Newgard Development Group and founder of Natiivo Hospitality. He is the visionary leader who shapes the ethos of this creative and entrepreneurial real estate development company. With 25 years of active involvement in the South Florida market, he has distinguished himself as a forward-thinking, innovative, and fearless developer, who has been a pivotal figure in shaping the region’s ever-evolving skylines.
Originally from Venezuela, Hernandez’s real estate journey began in the 1990s as a hands-on investor in Miami. Inspired by the city's transformative potential, he transitioned to large-scale real estate developments, particularly focusing on high-end high-rise residential projects. Hernandez has been a pioneer in pushing design boundaries and integrating luxury finishes, innovative amenities, branding, and cutting-edge technology into his projects.
Always ahead of evolving market trends, he most recently pioneered residential developments designed, built and licensed for short-term rentals. He created two brands from scratch—LOFTY and Natiivo—that are incorporated into each project that utilizes this “flexible ownership” model.
Hernandez is at the forefront of new development in South Florida. The 44-story LOFTY Brickell sets a new market standard by combining 5-star hospitality services with luxurious interior design, finishes, and amenities. Newgard’s Natiivo Miami is sold out and nearing completion while Natiivo Fort Lauderdale is in the early stages of development in the heart of downtown.
Under Hernandez’s leadership, Newgard expanded its footprint beyond Florida, completing his first Natiivo project in Austin, Texas. This reflects his ability to adapt and succeed in diverse markets, reinforcing his position as a leader with a global perspective.
Hernandez’s approach and dedication to excellence have not gone unnoticed. His accolades include an Honoree recognition in the 2018 South Florida Business Journal Structures Award and a 2023 Apogee Award for CEO Leadership from South Florida Business & Wealth magazine. He is a member of the Urban Land Institute.
