Fernando is the Co-Founder and CEO of Vertical Developments, a distinguished real estate investment and development firm. With over 20 years of experience, Fernando has become a leading figure in the real estate industry, orchestrating over $250 million in transactions across high-growth markets in Florida, Georgia, Texas, and Louisiana through his previous firm, Location3 Investments. Throughout his career, he has been involved in more than 100 real estate projects, contributing to an impressive cumulative sales volume of over $12 billion.
Prior to launching Vertical Developments, Fernando served as Executive Vice President of the Development Division at ONE Sotheby’s International Realty, where he managed a dynamic portfolio of 20 major projects, totaling an average inventory value of $4.5 billion. During his tenure from 2015 to 2022, he was instrumental in growing the company’s presence and the creation of ONE Capital, the company’s private equity arm. ONE Sotheby’s International Realty boasts over 1,300 agents, 27 offices, and has generated $8.8 billion in sales under his leadership. As Vice President of the International Division and Managing Director of Operations and Finances at Fortune International Group (2003-2015), he played a key role in the company’s global expansion, opening eight international branches and recruiting over 200 agents.
Beyond the corporate world, Fernando is an established thought leader in real estate. He has served as a Chief Economist and public speaker, contributing to over 100 real estate panels and conferences in 23 countries. He has also appeared in high-profile media outlets, including CNN, to offer expert insights on market trends.
In his early career, Fernando held senior roles in the tech and finance sectors, including COO of Netjuice Latin America, an internet incubator based in Spain, and as an investment banker for nearly a decade in New York, London, Paris, Madrid, and Argentina, working for Santander Investment, LTCB, and Société Générale. His career began at the Ministry of Finance in Argentina, where he developed econometric models, before moving to the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) and collaborating with the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB).
Fernando's academic credentials include a Master's and Bachelor's degree in Economics, Magna Cum Laude, from the University of Buenos Aires (UBA), as well as certifications in Real Estate Finance and Economics from the London School of Economics (LSE) and a Post-Graduate Program in Real Estate Development from Harvard University. He is also the author of Internet Business Model: A Post-Crisis Vision (McGraw-Hill Professional, 2001).
